As per my own experience. Whatever you do never returns but the motive or intention/intent/भाव returns. For example a person has killed another person by shooting an arrow, from eternity arrow is used as metaphor because the path that an arrow has travelled/followed can be seen.

Now the arrow has reached the destination and it will never return to that person. The intention or intent begins its journey where the arrow has ended its journey. So with arrow two things travel. It is like a dog recognises a person by smelling an handkerchief touched by him, so now it is not only a cloth but it carries smell of that person too.

After circling around the globe after 20–30 years another person catches the same intent to harm this person who has shot that arrow.
