Today on 30/06/2024 it was discovered that this is an incomplete depiction of a story told by Buddha to explain the state of human mind, so this picture failed to give any meaningful meaning to everyone and went out of use. That story is as follows:-

Buddha used to say, a man is running in the jungle (was running), a man runs due to two reasons. Either something is pulling him in front, or something is pushing him from behind. Either someone is pulling him from the front, or someone is pushing him from behind.

That man was running due to both the reasons. He had gone to the jungle in search of diamonds. Someone had told him that there is a diamond mine. That’s why he was running. But just now his running had become very fast, because a lion had started chasing him. He had forgotten the diamonds, now he had to somehow save himself from this lion. He was running wildly, and reached the place where the road ended ahead. There was a terrible pit, the road had ended. There was no way to return. There is no way to return anywhere — either in the jungle or on the road.

And whether you are running for diamonds or because death is chasing you, there is no way to return anywhere. In fact, there is no way left to return. In time, all the previous paths fall down. You cannot return back, you cannot return even an inch.

He too could not return because the lion was following him and the road ahead had ended. In great panic, seeing no solution, he did what a helpless man would do. He hung in the ditch, holding the roots of a tree. He thought that if the lion leaves by then, he would come out and come back. But the lion came up and started waiting. The lion also has its own desire. You will come up someday.

When he saw that the lion was standing above and waiting, then the man looked down. He saw a mad elephant trumpeting below. Then he said that now there is no solution. We can understand the condition of that man, how he must have fallen into anguish. But this is not all, anguish is infinite in life. No matter how many come, they are still less. Life can give more.

Then he saw that the branch he was holding was bending downwards. When he raised his eyes, two rats were biting its roots. Buddha used to say, there was a white rat, there was a black rat. Just as day and night keep on biting the roots of a man. So we can understand how his life would have been in danger. But no, man’s lust is amazing. And the game of deception of man’s mind is amazing.

Then he saw that there was a beehive above and a drop of honey was dripping from it. He spread his tongue, a drop of honey dripped on his tongue. He closed his eyes and said, “Blessed be the one, it is very sweet.” At that moment, there was no lion above, no trumpeting elephant below, no rats biting the roots. There was no death, no fear. For a moment, it was sweet. He said, “It is very sweet, the honey is very sweet!”

Buddha used to say that every man is in this condition, but the mind keeps dripping honey drop by drop. Closing his eyes, a man says, “It is very sweet. This is the condition, this is the situation. It is like this all the time. There is death below, there is death above. Where there is life, there is death everywhere. Life is surrounded by death everywhere.

And every moment, the roots of life are being cut off automatically. Life is becoming empty, is ending — one day, one moment at a time. And life is like a sand clock and every moment the sand keeps falling down. Similarly, time keeps running out of life and life keeps getting empty.

But when he see tyat a drop of honey is falling from above, dreams are created and the eyes are closed. The mind says, how sweet it is! And by the time one drop is finished, another drop is dropped. The mind keeps dripping drops of deceit.”(These drops are honey are made up of money for some, position for some, power for some people and sex for most of the people)

— -Osho, Isha Upanishad (Hindi edition, translated using google translate), #11 Vah Shoonya Hai (It is Void/Zero)

This picture below is poorly modified form of image created using above story by Buddha, since the hence it failed to give real meaning because the drops of honey falling from above is now shown and so it seems it became obsolete now.

Five — Lion, Crocodile, Snake, Tree cut to brim at stem and holding power of hands or limited power of body all are continuously in action upon us but seldom we are able to see them in totality. These are desires, attachments, greed, prestige etc but seldom we see them as depicted in this Picture.

This is the situation of every human being. Only an awakened one can see life in its totality. These are five senses shown as dangers for life. We need to understand from this photo that we have to use time in our life very carefully for our personal inner journey too.

Time in our life is available to us as little as it is available to this person. Our life as compared to eternity is even much smaller than that. While we can enter into eternity within the framework of time through mediation.

This photo is a creative depiction, by a mystic, of challange in front of every person and it is to incite a sense of urgency. To begin a spiritual journey and to help in taking one step in duscovering truth within, these three things are needed. 1) sense of urgency 2)raising a question 3) search for a solution and this photo is able to do it successfully.

If this person could get awakened or enlightened before being caught by any of these, and it is going to caught for sure, then he will realise that he is not body but everything around. He is not only having a particle state but exhibits a wave state too. so the fear of death vanishes and it becomes a play. In which he (particle form) is playing his role as body while in reality he is the watcher (wave form- eternal form) who is watching all these happening.

But it is not possible if inner journey is not started. Mindfulness mediation adds another wing to this person and he can fly into ultimate freedom from here. This is why he is shown on a branch of the tree.

As we grow we need to become more efficient so as to earn our bread and butter hence we become robotic. While in our childhood we acted consciously during every act. This is why even the work was relaxing like a play. This awareness that we have lost is needed to be regained or discovered.

Osho says “At any moment you close your eyes, first you will see thoughts, a layer of thinking all around you, thoughts vibrating — one coming, another going — a crowd, a traffic. Remain silent for a few seconds, and suddenly you will see that thinking is no longer there but dreaming has started. You are dreaming that you have become the president of a country, or you have found a brick of gold on the road, or you have found a beautiful woman or a man, and suddenly you start projecting; dreams start functioning. If you continue dreaming for a long time, one moment will come when you will fall asleep — thinking, dreaming, sleep, and from sleep again to dreaming and thinking. This is how your whole life revolves. Real awareness is not known yet, and that real awareness is what Patanjali says will destroy ignorance — not knowledge, but awareness. We collect knowledge just to befool ourselves and others.” — — — — — -Osho, Yoga:The science of the soul.

The mind is biggest hurdle in our inner journey. It is helpful too but only up to a certain altitude after that it needed to be disconnected from it because then it starts creating more trouble. So just like first stage of rocket engine is left to drop on the Earth so that the satellite can be launched in its orbit, our mind too needs to be dropped in subtle way so that even the mind could not recognise being dropped!

Awareness meditation is of great help in getting this job done.

Osho says “The deep problem is: how to become aware, how not to be unconscious. From where to start? Don’t try to fight with some very deep-rooted habit. You will be defeated. Start with very neutral habits.

For example: you go for a walk; just be aware that you are walking. (Try to Walk with witnessing consciousness).

Awareness meditation is the way worked for me and I tried it first during brushing my teeth in the morning after trying 8–10 meditations over period of 15 years! So there is no need to reinvent the circle for you. May be you too find it suitable otherwise with Dynamic meditation and/or Kundalini in the evening it is suitable for most of the people. There are 110 other meditation techniques discovered by Indian Mystic Gorakhnath about 500years before and further modified by Osho for contemporary people that one can experiment and the suitable one could be practiced in routine life.

Osho International Online (OIO) provides facility to learn these from your home, through Osho Meditation Day @€20.00 per person. OIO rotate times through three timezones NY,Berlin and Mumbai. You can prebook according to the convenient time for you.

Osho International Online (OIO) provides facility to learn these from your home apart from above,

This is an opportunity for learning and knowing Osho through these sannyasins who lived in his presence and brought to life his words in best possible quality in all formats.

Disciples of Jesus left him alone in last minutes but Osho’s disciples remained with him till he left his body willingly after working, till last day, for all of us to get enlightened. Jesus tried hard till last minute, before being caught, to teach meditation to his disciples. As per Saint John’s Gospel:- Jesus used word ‘Sit’ to transfer his meditative energy to them and went on to pray God, but on returning he found them sleeping. He tried two times again but in vain.

Even today Zen people use word ‘Sit’ for meditation in their saying ‘Sit silently, do nothing, season comes and the grass grows by itself green’. His message is purely that of Buddha: the message consists of awareness. He shouts again and again, ”Beware!” And remember, the word ”beware” consists of two words: ”be aware”. He says again and again, ”Remain awake!” but he has to translate it into Jewish metaphors.
