Yes, it should remain a constant reminder all through the day as under current at least. I was able to maintain it by practicing awareness meditation during brushing my teeth in the morning!
Earlier I used to think about office or about lunch or about family matters during this act and while I was in office or doing lunch again I was catapulted either back to some past event or of any expected in future.
So I was not fully present during any one act in whole day! I was living like a robot or a machine. I was living for others only, so I decided to spare two minutes for me. During these two minutes the world stops for me, as I am totally enjoying every movement of my brush on every tooth, the taste of the paste and the sensation due to brushing etc. This way I touched every tooth two times at least from all sides, so total 200 movements to pay attention to.
Within few months I got experience of no-thought state, and it is still felt as blissful. Then I started experimenting this meditation during other acts too.
In 25 years now it remain 24x7 as undercurrent, and no effort is required on my part to maintain it. Each day is full of ecstasy, joy and celebration.
